30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin)
30 St Mary Axe, known to everyone as the Gherkin, is Norman Foster's 180-metre glass tower in the City, completed in 2004 on the site of the bomb-damaged Baltic Exchange. Its curved diagrid frame and rounded profile made it an instant landmark of the modern Square Mile.
