Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich

The Old Royal Naval College is Sir Christopher Wren's baroque riverside masterpiece at Greenwich, begun in 1696 as a hospital for retired sailors on the site of a former royal palace. Its twin domed halls frame a view to the Queen's House, and the Painted Hall is celebrated for James Thornhill's ceiling.
