Pint Index
London pint prices, by fare zone
What a pint costs nationally
None of these figures are ours. They are here so the prices on this page have something to sit against, and each one names who counted it, when, and exactly what they counted. A national cask ale is not a London pint.
- a draught pint, UK-wide
£5.34 in May 2026.
The Morning Advertiser, 21 May 2026. Its own survey of pub operators, across more than 30 beer brands.
- a pint of cask ale, UK-wide
£4.91 in July 2026.
The Morning Advertiser, 23 July 2026. Its Beer Report 2026 reader survey. Cask ale only, so it sits below the draught figure above.
- a draught lager, UK-wide
£1.22 in 1990. £4.83 in January 2025.
Up £3.61 in 35 years.
Office for National Statistics, 21 July 2026. The RPI average price series for draught lager, which stops at January 2025.
The Zone pint index
A pint in Zone 1 costs more than Zone 3. Here is by how much. Each pub is placed in its nearest station’s TfL fare zone (a documented approximation, not an area boundary), then we take the median of every zone’s listed cheapest pint.
- Zone 1£6.25
- Zone 2£5.70
- Zone 3£5.30
- Zone 4£4.90
- Zone 5£4.60
- Zone 6£4.70
The Zone 1 tax over Zone 5 is £1.65.
Zone 6 reads dearer than Zone 5. They are the thinnest samples here: 45 and 51 priced pubs.
Each zone figure is the median of the cheapest recorded pint price for pubs assigned to that zone. Assignment uses each pub’s nearest station’s TfL fare zone. A figure appears after 10 priced pubs.
Right, what about your patch?
London’s figures are one thing. What you pay on your own road is another. Pick an area and the map opens on the cheapest pint we have on record there. No sign-up, and we won’t ask where you are.

Prices and counts from the London pint-price dataset, a snapshot from 4 September 2026. Somewhere else in mind? Every borough is here
Borough coverage
These lines count corroborated people-logged pints only. Grey pins still mean we do not yet have the second voice.
Every borough here needs 20 more corroborated pints this month.
Borough league table
No borough league yet.
The zone strip shows the wider price picture by fare zone. The league only ranks boroughs using dated prices with a public source.
Dated editions
This page moves as prices land, which is no use to anyone quoting it. So every closed month also gets its own page, frozen the day it goes up. September 2026 closes on 30 September 2026 and gets one next. Eligible prices dated before then can enter it.
Method and sources
Only prices with a public source and date are published. Older map-only prices stay out.
What counts. Community submissions, a pub or brewery’s own published material, and properly licensed open data may enter the public Index only with a public source URL and price date.
Boroughs. We place coordinates inside versioned Greater London boundary shapes. A point outside every shape gets no borough; we never assign it to an arbitrary nearby one.
What stays out. The map may still use an older price baseline. Those rows stay out of this public Index, its CSV and its structured data.
Dates. Price dates come from the source record. Build time and file modification time are never presented as when a price was seen.
